Dealing
with parked cars
Dealing with parked cars is largely a matter of priority and clearance, and there are three main variants: 1. The parked car is on your side of the road - you do not have priority, give way to the oncoming traffic. 2. The parked car is on the other side of the road - you have priority and can proceed if safe to do so. 3. There are parked cars on both sides of the road - neither driver has priority, only proceed if the other driver is allowing it. When passing parked cars allow a car door's width as a door might open, a child might step from behind it or the parked car might suddenly move off. If a car door's width is not available pass slowly and cautiously. |
