On the approach
to this canal bridge there is a road narrows on both sides sign, a
humpback bridge sign, an oncoming traffic has priority sign, a give
way sign, hazard warning lines, a give way triangle road marking,
give way lines, and 'slow' written across the road. It is not uncommon
to see someone belting up to this bridge having clearly not seen any
of these signs and road markings and then proceed blindly over the
bridge. The visibility is in fact so poor here that the only satisfactory
way to ensure that it safe to cross the bridge is to pause at the
give way lines and have a good look along the road coming from the
left, and the track coming from the right. I wonder how many pens
have been worn out by the driving examiners at this place?
